    • -After repair cooling system is holding pressure.
    • -After repair, hard start issue has subsided.
    • -Pressure tested cooling system. -Found main leak coming from a cracked expansion tank. -Recommending replacing expansion tank then rechecking for any additional leaks.
    • TEST DRIVE
    • -Timing belt is splitting. Recommending replacing timing belt with water pump as soon as possible. -Passenger outer tie rod boot torn. Recommending replacement. -Passenger wheel bearing loose. Recommending replacement. -Driver front lower ball joint loose. Recommending repair. -Check engine light active. -Traction control light on.
    • -Vehicle started up without hesitation. -Scanned vehicle. -Several faults stored. -Cleared faults and drove. Only fault that returned was for bank one side one oxygen sensor. Suspect sensor is worn and in need of replacement. -Checked vehicle temperature with scan tool after sitting for 45 minutes. Vehicle stated engine was still 100 degrees C. -Removed sensor and cooled down with cold water. Plugged sensor back in and vehicle still stated 81 degrees C. -Plugged in known good sensor and readings dropped to 30-40 degrees immediately. -If vehicle thinks its warm on cold starts it will deliver the wrong amount of fuel and cause hard starting issues. -Recommending replacing sensor as first step then rechecking.

    • -Found brake fluid contaminated. Recommending a brake fluid flush. -Splash shield missing.
    • -No belt noise on arrival. Would like to let the car sit for a bit and try again on a cold start.
    • -Scanned car. -Air bag fault is for driver airbag igniter. -Attempted to clear codes with no success. -Noticed horn and buttons on steering wheel are inoperable. -Suspect possible clock spring issue. Need some additional time to apart steering wheel and inspect clock spring. -Upon removal of airbag, no damage was found to wires or electrical connections. -Found an open recall for a damaged clock spring. Symptoms are related to a damaged clock spring that should be covered under an extended warranty through Volkswagen. -Recommending taking vehicle to dealer to warrant parts and labor.

    • CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL – Remove & Replace – Standard Trans Rear – [Includes: R&I Transmission Assembly.]
    • DISC ROTOR – Remove & Replace – Rear,Both – [Includes: Repack Wheel Bearings (where applicable) and replace Pads (if necessary). DOES NOT include refinishing.]
    • -Rear main seal leaking oil.
    • -Scanned vehicle. -Found fault codes related to fuel mixture (running lean). -Upon inspection found a oil leak coming from bottom of bell housing. -Smoke tested and found smoke to be leaking from rear main seal. -Unmetered air entering from rear main seal is contributing to lean condition causing runability issues especially when A/C is causing extra load on the engine. -Found aftermarket intake installed. Aftermarket intakes can cause engine to receive more air than it can handle possibly contributing to lean condition as well, but recommend addressing rear main leak first then rechecking.
    • -Temperature from vents seems to be blowing cold. -Low side pressure 25psi, high side pressure 185psi. Both within spec. -Customers concern of A/C having a herd time running will be related to the check engine light (lean condition).

    • -Idle Spec: 17-30 psi > Actual: 27 psi -2000 RPM Spec: 23-30 psi > Actual: 30 psi -3700 RPM Spec: 43-58 psi > Actual: 55 psi -Based on test it is determined that the mechanical oil pressure is okay and low pressure sensor needs to be replaced.

    • -Scanned vehicle. -Vehicle has codes stored for oil pressure switch. -EPC & oil light not flickering on arrival. -Checked oil filter, looks okay. -Need to test mechanical oil pressure and replace pressure sensor(s) as necessary then recheck.
