    • The technician confirmed the customer's concern regarding a warning message about battery discharge. During testing of the charging system, it was noted that the alternator is not operating within specifications. The technician recommends replacing the alternator and the serpentine belt, followed by a recheck of the system after these repairs. While replacing the alternator, the technician discovered a coolant leak from a cooling hose. Additionally, both breather hoses were found to be brittle and broken. The technician advises replacing both breather hoses and the cooling hoses, as the coolant leak contributed to the alternator's failure by leaking onto the connector. Multiple fault codes related to the battery were also stored in the DME. The battery was tested and found to be somewhat weak; therefore, the technician recommends recharging it and retesting after the alternator replacement. The technician successfully replaced the alternator and all necessary components, and upon retesting, the charging system is now within specifications. A road test confirmed there are no warning lights on the dashboard, and all service lights were reset. The technician performed an oil filter change, brake fluid flush, and a vehicle inspection. At this time, the technician recommends that the client monitor the vehicle. If any warning lights reappear, further diagnostics will be needed.
