The technician recommends monitoring the battery to ensure it maintains the right voltage. Additionally, the door locks are operating within specifications. The technician also addressed an oil leak and advises keeping an eye on the vehicle for any further leaks. Lastly, it was noted that the blower motor is now operating within specifications.

    • The technician was unable to verify the customer's report of smoke from the engine bay. However, after conducting various tests, no oil or coolant leaks were detected from the top of the vehicle. There are, however, oil leaks originating from the oil pan underneath. More time is needed for a comprehensive diagnosis of this oil leak. During a road test, the technician did not observe any signs of smoke, overheating, or stalling, indicating that the vehicle is functioning normally. The technician advises the client to continue monitoring the situation, especially if any issues arise again, as further diagnostic time will be required.

    • Inspection & Diagnosis Pulled vehicle into the shop and verified signs of dried coolant residue, though the coolant level itself was normal. Performed a cooling system pressure test to help reproduce the leak. Under pressure, coolant began to leak from the underside of the engine. Raised the vehicle and removed the skid plate for further inspection. Observed coolant leaking from the backside of the engine block. Determined the source to be the oil filter housing unit, which contains coolant passages and is leaking from its rear area. Cause Oil filter housing assembly failure, allowing coolant to escape from the rear of the housing/block area. Recommendation / Required Repairs Replace the oil filter housing assembly. Install new gaskets/seals during replacement. Refill cooling system with the correct Mercedes-approved coolant. After repairs, perform a pressure test to ensure no further leaks are present.
    • MULTIPOINT INSPECTION
    • The technician successfully replaced the oil filter housing and all necessary components, then re-pressurized the cooling system. The vehicle maintained a pressure of 15 psi for 20 minutes. During a road test, the technician noticed a warning light indicating a battery issue. Upon returning to the shop, they found low voltage codes stored in the ECU and recommended replacing the battery for further testing. After replacing the battery, the technician cleared all fault codes from the ECU except for one related to the thermostat, which is currently not triggering the check engine light. They advised monitoring the vehicle's temperature, as it is operating within specifications. If the check engine light activates, it may indicate the thermostat is stuck open. Additionally, the vehicle is overdue for a service, but the client has declined any further repairs at this time.
